This year was my 11th year attending the "Abbott's Magic Get-Together", a
magic convention held in Colon, MI every year. This year I thought I
would make it an extra special convention and ordered 50 "Get Out of Hell
Free" cards to give to all my friends that I would catch up with there.
Since Colon is such a small town, there are no hotels so the town
plays host to us magicians who come to this unique magical event. People
let magicians stay in their homes and camp out in their yards.
I elected to camp out again this year and with the weather being so
hot, I was sweating profusely as I put up my tent and canopy. I took
many breaks to cool down, including a trip to the local bar for a soda
pop. Later that day I realized I had not paid for my soda pop, so I went
back to the bar (I needed another drink to cool down with anyways) and
had the following dialog with the waitress:
Me: "Hey, I forgot to pay for my drink when I was in earlier."
Her: "Oh. You are going to hell."
Me: "No I'm not!"
Her: "Yes you are. What do you have? A 'Get Out of Hell Free' card?"
So I opened my wallet and showed her the card. She nearly busted a
gut laughing and demanded that I give her a card. Not only did it make
her day, it made her week and I got free drinks there for the rest of the
convention. All this due to your cards and one lucky coincidence.
